Well at least everything else is ok. If you cant pull it back or you still need a little space, check the clearance inside the skid to the tank. If we have to we could cut an angle in the skid and reweld a flat piece on.

Was it just the kid there or was the older guy there too? I went during the week one time and the older guy was there.. he seemed a bit more picky but I had my bmw and not my jeep so I wasn't worried... I brought my jeep on a saturday and the kid only really checked the wipers.

i saw him when i was waiting but i think he went up to the office while i was in there so i got one of the kids and the other kids was running and checking invlocies but i got the old guy checked the wk but he did care to much just checked the lights and horns and ran the computer and talked to me about golf because he saw a score card that i left in the jeep

Mike just get a cat shell/heat sheild and clamp it over the pipe. Thats what I did on mine. I only had half on the side you could see, and just clamped it on with a hose clamp.

nope no more emisions for the yj (95 or older) so they dont check it unless they have a reason to so if you but a cat shell on it they wont know by just a visual inspection unless you got a hole or blowing out smoke

damn this bumper is proving to be a pain in the ass, there is no way to bolt in the frame tie downs using the provided hardware from what i have read online either get a blonger bolt that can go through the frame or weld them on, bumperettes suck to take off, and i landed on my bumperetts so many times that they fucked up the ends of my rear crossmember. ive been beating on these things all day and they arent moving anyywhere and every time i try to pry them the bolt holes start opening up. im thinking of getting a threaded road with some nuts and washers and just back up into a tree unless you guys have any better ideas because im at a loss right here. i need to to get these ends straight so i can atleast mount the bumper and tire carrier for this weekend

note the bent bumperettes
Image

passenger side end
Image

they look like they be easy to hammer into place but they got a support plate behind them
Image

drivers side is not as bad but sill

i need to get a backing plat in there but that wont fit with these ends bent

Mike

camp underground this weekend so i want it ready then and im limited to day light hours seeing im about 100 ft from the nearest outlet, the thoughts of just driving the wk into the bumps has crossed my mind but i think the yj bumps will win that battle. once i get past this it should be clear sailing from here on or at least make it so i can carry a tire

Well we can drive it to peabody and right into the glass shop where I work on my jeep.. all my tools are there, lights, heat, air conditioned shop... etc etc. Whatever you need. There's a oxy torch there too if stuff needs to be bent.

temping but i did have to drop the tank skid just to get at some on the bolts which was a pain because the old hardware was so rusty that on of the hex heads just got rounded off but i eventualy got it and picked up some new hardware to replace it with
